Admissions Criteria
To attend Avonside School, the criteria are as follows;
- Young people aged between 13 and 19 who have a range of special educational needs.
- All pupils should have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
- Pupils may have learning difficulties and/or low attainment as a result of their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Admissions Process
The admission process for pupils who wish to attend Avonside School is usually referred to us by their local authority. Once we agree that the prospective pupil meets our admissions criteria, we will arrange:
- A school visit for the young person, their parents and/or carers.
- A tour of the school.
- An opportunity to meet our key staff and talk about our school policies and curriculum.
- Following the visit, if all parties agree that Avonside School meets the young person’s educational and support needs and that the young person’s parents/carers are committed to the placement, we will start the formal admissions process.
